Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Map AI ("we", "us", "our") collects when you use our websites and apps, how we use it, and the choices you have. This page is maintained by Map AI to answer common privacy questions about the Service. It is not a certification.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information — your email address, and, if you sign in with Google, the profile information Google returns (name, avatar, email).
  • Payment information — handled by our payments processor, Stripe. We store non-sensitive metadata (plan, status, period dates); we do not store your full card number.
  • Content — the questions you ask, the search results the AI generates for you, saved threads, and any settings you configure.
  • Support communications — messages you send us.

Information we collect automatically

  • Device & log data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps.
  • Usage data — pages viewed, features used, and interactions (aggregated where possible).
  • Cookies & similar technologies — small pieces of data stored in your browser to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure usage.

2. How we use information

  • Provide, operate, secure, and improve the Service;
  • Process your searches, generate maps and reports, and personalize your experience;
  • Process subscriptions and payments, and prevent fraud;
  • Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

3. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

If you are in the EEA or UK, we process your information based on: performance of a contract (delivering the Service), legitimate interests (improving and securing the Service), your consent (where required, such as certain cookies), and legal obligations.

4. AI training

We do not use the content of your searches or reports to train third-party AI models. Our AI providers process your Input only to generate the Output for your session, under contractual data-protection commitments.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers ("subprocessors") that help us run the Service, such as:
    • Supabase — authentication and database hosting;
    • Stripe — payment processing;
    • Google Cloud (Maps Platform) — maps, geocoding, and place data;
    • AI model providers (e.g., Google, OpenAI) — accessed through the Lovable AI Gateway to generate responses.
  • Legal and safety recipients when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Map AI, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.

6. Data retention

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Search history is kept until you delete it or delete your account. Billing records are retained as required by tax and accounting laws. Backups are cycled on a rolling basis.

7. Your rights and choices

  • Access, correction, deletion — you can update your profile from Settings, delete individual searches from the sidebar, and request account deletion by emailing privacy@map-ai.app.
  • Marketing — you can opt out of promotional emails by following the unsubscribe link in any such email.
  • Cookies — most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies; note that essential cookies are needed to keep you signed in.
  • EEA/UK/California residents — you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to access, port, restrict, or object to certain processing.

8. International transfers

Map AI and its subprocessors may process your information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for these transfers.

9. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, encrypted storage at our infrastructure providers, and strict access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

10. Children

Map AI is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact privacy@map-ai.app and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you (for example, by email or an in-app notice) and update the "Last updated" date above.
